Is it possible to make this happen? This is the only site I haunt that it doesn't so I'm thinking that it's not in my browser settings, though it could be in my site settings. I'm so used to it that when I'm done with a link, I close it but what I end up doing is closing POOFA along with it.

You should be able to right-click the link to get it to open in a new window.
